Rumours of a LEGO Star Wars cinema model for next year are exciting, but it would be far from the first LEGO cinema to be released over the past 18 years.
One of the latest LEGO Star Wars rumours includes word of 75659 Star Wars Movie Theatre, believed to be an 18+ set that will retail for $199.99 in the US, coming on April 1, 2027. The name suggests a cinema creation that would bring Star Wars into a multi-theme range including Friends, Batman, and Creator Expert / Icons.
While we wait for further details, taking what is rumoured with caution, here's a look at the history of LEGO cinemas so far. We're counting only full cinema builds based on specialised spaces to watch movies in this list, not a projector and screen temporarily set up in a LEGO garden.
2008: 10184 Town Plan

2008's 10184 celebrates the 50th anniversary of the LEGO brick with an assortment of buildings and vehicles to help you lay out a peaceful town. This includes the first full cinema in a LEGO set.
The town's cinema boasts a flashy marquee, a ticket office and a full interior featuring a space to grab snacks and a complete cinema screen with space for five minifigures. A western flick is playing on that screen.

As a first LEGO cinema, 10184 Town Plan's building also remains one of the most complete, though it was far from the last to be released.
2013: 10232 Palace Cinema

The most iconic LEGO cinema to date is undoubtedly the modular 10232 Palace Cinema from 2013. This complete, four-walled LEGO cinema takes inspiration from the iconic Chinese Theatre in Hollywood but in a corner modular for a modular city
The cinema screen in 10232 Palace Cinema has room for six minifigures and is showing an older style of movie, but it advertises several outside on posters.
Purchases of the set in the US in September 2013 would even receive an extra poster advertising The LEGO Movie, which in the world of minifigures is probably just The Movie.
2014: 40180 Bricktober Theater

One of the Bricktober builds for 2014 was another LEGO cinema on a much smaller scale than any others before it. 40180 Bricktober Theater is made up of just 164 pieces and does not come with an interior for its size.
2017: 70922 The Joker Manor

2017's 70922 The Joker Manor is massive, and the sprawling manor even houses a small cinema for Bruce Wayne to watch the sequel to Forever Sorting, as featured in 10232 Palace Cinema.
This small screen only has space for one minifigure, but that suits Bruce's bachelor lifestyle just fine. There is no space to grab snacks, but he can always go down to the kitchen for popcorn or lobster thermidor.
2018: 41349 Drifting Diner

The first of three LEGO Friends cinemas on this list is a small drive-in movie screen in 2018's 41349 Drifting Diner. It's not nearly as impressive as the other LEGO cinemas on this list, but it is the only drive-in option in the portfolio so far.
2020: 41408 Mia's Shopping Play Cube

The second LEGO Friends cinema is even smaller, taking up the inside of 41408 Mia's Shopping Play Cube with just 37 pieces. Despite its small size, this is a complete cinema experience with a snack bar and a one-person movie screen. Mia even comes with printed 3D glasses.
2021: 41448 Heartlake City Movie Theatre

LEGO Friends' biggest cinema is 2021's 41448 Heartlake City Movie Theatre, offering up another facade build similar to that of 10184 Town Plan with an added red carpet space.
The cinema screen doesn't have many seats, but it can fit a phone to play any movie you'd like. The standard film playing has no decipherable name, but is about two friends in a car.
2023: 40600 Disney 100 Years Celebration

There's a small one-person cinema screen inside 40600 Disney 100 Years Celebration, too. This LEGO cinema is one of the most functional thanks to an inclusion that you would expect to have been in more cinema models.
Using a light brick and a transparent panel with a silhouette, this LEGO cinema features a working projector. This is the only LEGO cinema with a working projector, but there have been several other at-home movie models to feature the function.
