The LEGO Group has confirmed the fate of VIDIYO 43108 Bandmates following its decision to place the theme on temporary hiatus.
The company recently announced that it will spend 2022 piloting ‘new ideas’ for the augmented-reality theme, which will materialise in 2023 as ‘new play experiences’. That left the as-yet-unreleased second series of blind-boxed minifigures, 43108 Bandmates, in the lurch.
Fortunately for those fans holding out hope for the new characters, though, the LEGO Group has now confirmed (via the LEGO Ambassador Network) that VIDIYO’s 2021 releases will ‘finish out as planned’, which means 43108 Bandmates will still hit shelves in October.

Another 12 colourful characters comprise the new series, including a Karaoke Mermaid, a Discowgirl Guitarist and a Vampire Bassist. You can take a closer look at the line-up in full by clicking here.
Just like the first series, 43101 Bandmates – which the LEGO Group has recently started giving away for free – the new range will come in eco-friendly cardboard packaging. Good news for the environment, bad news for figuring out what’s inside before buying.
43108 Bandmates will launch on October 1 as planned – at least until further notice. And even before it arrives on shelves, it’s already provided us with the perfect starting point for a new LEGO Batman villain…
