LEGO designer explains 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris

Join Brick Fanatics for an in-depth interview with the designer behind the newly-revealed LEGO Architecture 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris.

Officially unveiled today ahead of its June 1 launch, 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris is this year’s one and only LEGO Architecture set (so far). Brought to life by design guru Rok Žgalin Kobe, the building process of the 4,383-piece set follows the real-life construction of the cathedral over the centuries across four stages, so that no matter where you pause it ‘never feels like an unfinished LEGO model’.

That’s just one of the unique insights into 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris that Rok shared with Brick Fanatics and other LEGO fan media in Billund last year. Not only did he reveal the latest LEGO Architecture set to the entire room, but we also had the opportunity to sit down one-on-one with him for a deep dive into every facet of this historic brick-built cathedral.

If 21061 Notre-Dame de Paris has caught your eye and you’re keen to learn more about the set while waiting for it to hit shelves, pull up a pew and check out our latest YouTube video for an in-depth chat with Rok on all things French architecture – from how the Notre-Dame weaves in real-life history to the monumental task its unique approach gave the team behind the building instructions.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
