LEGO Disney Pixar Inside Out 2 set revealed

The first images of a brand new LEGO Disney set based on the upcoming Pixar movie Inside Out 2 have dropped online.

Tentatively titled 43248 Mood Cubes (as per Google Translate, so the final set name could be different), the LEGO Disney set includes 394 pieces and is due for release on May 1, around a month and a half before Inside Out 2 arrives in cinemas. German retailer JB Spielwaren has shared the first images of the model, which includes mini-dolls of Amy Poehler’s Joy and Maya Hawke’s brand new character Anxiety.

The sequel to Pixar’s 2015 hit sees Joy, Anger, Sadness, Fear and Disgust regulating Riley’s teenage emotions with relative success, only for Anxiety to show up and throw a spanner in the works. The LEGO Group’s take on Inside Out 2 feels like another spiritual successor to the now-defunct DOTS theme, offering a pair of buildable cubes with different emotions on each of their faces.

These are constructed using a combination of plates and tiles, representing the characters from both Inside Out and Inside Out 2, and can be spun to determine a particular combination of feelings on any given day. Want to tell everyone at the office that you’re grumpy, but also scared? This is the LEGO desk accessory for you.

43248 Mood Cubes will retail for €34.99 in Europe when it launches on May 1. We’ll hopefully learn international pricing and more details about the set when it drops on LEGO.com, which – if historical precedent tells us anything – could be as soon as this afternoon.

Inside Out 2 debuts in cinemas on June 14, 2024.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
