LEGO Dreamworks theme rumour might give Shrek a chance
Rumour of a new LEGO Dreamworks theme coming in 2025 might give a LEGO Ideas Shrek project the chance that enthusiasts have been waiting for.
A new rumour from Instagram user a.clay.brick posits that a new LEGO How to Train Your Dragon theme is coming next year, likely to tie into the live-action adaptation of the first animated movie in the summer. While this remains a rumour at the time of writing, the LEGO Group has an extensive history with Dreamworks.
From the LEGO Ideas Voltron set to the LEGO Trolls World Tour theme and the current range of Jurassic World: Camp Cretaceous as well as Gabby’s Dollhouse sets, a partnership with Dreamworks is already present ahead of the rumoured 2025 theme. Any word on LEGO How to Train Your Dragon should still be taken with caution in case details are inaccurate though.

The LEGO Group’s existing partnership with Dreamworks has only covered animated series aside from the Trolls World Tour theme, but LEGO Ideas users have been consistently pitching a Shrek model, including one project by Ashnflash that is currently in review.
Another theme based on one of Dreamworks’ most iconic movies might give the proposed Shrek model more of a chance in the first 2024 review. Just as How to Train Your Dragon has a new live-action movie coming in 2025, the fifth Shrek film is confirmed for July 1, 2026. Approving the Shrek project next year would allow enough time to release a set to time with the new movie.
Nothing more between the LEGO Group and Dreamworks has been confirmed at the time of writing and all rumours should be taken with caution. Still, rumours of LEGO How to Train Your Dragon might offer a glimmer of hope for the LEGO Ideas Shrek project.
