LEGO DREAMZzz’ new sets are useful for NINJAGO, City and more

The three new LEGO DREAMZzz summer 2024 sets are going to be useful for enhancing LEGO NINJAGO, City and more models in the future.

Thanks to a certified LEGO store in Mexico, we’ve had our first look at LEGO DREAMZzz’s summer 2024 wave including three new sets. Within 71478 The Never Witch’s Midnight Raven, 71484 Cooper’s Robot Dinosaur C-Rex and 71485 Mateo and Z-Blob the Knight Battle Mech are many new elements that could find use within other themes in the future.

From LEGO NINJAGO to sweeping updates to minifigure fashion within LEGO City, here are where the new pieces could fit in the wider LEGO portfolio in the future.

LEGO NINJAGO

Across the three new LEGO DREAMZzz sets is a group of minifigures, depicting the main characters with a menacing appearance. The evil minifigures of Logan and Izzy use a new armour element with a wispy design that could be useful for Cinder, the new Elemental Master of Smoke in LEGO NINJAGO.

Otherwise, the armour element could be useful for LEGO NINJAGO villain faction henchmen in the future even without modifications, its colour scheme reminds us of minifigures from Crystalized.

LEGO City

Minifigures are going to benefit the most from the new elements, especially those within LEGO City and other more casual ranges. A new puffer vest element is likely to find plenty of use in the future and is going to debut in three colours – red, blue and black. It also has a single stud connection at the back, increasing its versatility massively.

Cooper’s new look also comes with a fresh hat and hair element, depicting the tousled hair element underneath a beanie. In different colours, this could be useful for Jay from NINJAGO as well as standard minifigures or mini-dolls.

LEGO Harry Potter

71478 The Never Witch’s Midnight Raven features a new raven and cauldron element. Both pieces could find future use within LEGO Harry Potter and the raven is already being depicted in a transparent colour too – perfect for a Patronus.

Otherwise, both elements could be useful for LEGO fantasy themes and displays in general and the raven especially may be useful as a familiar for the upcoming LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures series.

Miscellaneous

The final two new elements spotted in the three LEGO DREAMZzz summer 2024 sets aren’t quite as easy to find a place for though they may be widely applicable with a bit of creativity in the future. A new hourglass accessory element is used for both a cannon and a hammer in the sets and had it not been for the clip on the bottom, it could have been an interesting piece for a lightsaber.

The textured dome piece is just as specific, though it at least adds some variety compared to the standard version of this element featured in 71046 Series 26 Space. The transparent green mask element appears to be new and should find plenty of use in various future mechs.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
