Rumoured LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures could be unusually customisable

The rumoured series of LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures may introduce a simple, effective and long-time-coming change.

As well as the confirmed LEGO Ideas set coming for the 50th anniversary of the roleplaying game, the LEGO Group’s partnership with Dungeons & Dragons is rumoured to expand to a series of 12 Collectible Minifigures. The rumour by Promobricks’ maxbautde and Redditor Clay_Bricks suggest these will cover generic playable characters that are more customisable than any minifigures before them.

Specifically, it’s stated that seven of the 12 minifigures will cover classes and races from the games from a bard to a Githyanki. Those not familiar with Dungeons & Dragons can read our guide to find out more about them. The important detail from the rumour is that these seven minifigures are believed to feature alternate faces, switching them from a male-presenting minifigure to a female-presenting minifigure or vice-versa.

Combine that with the belief that their torsos and legs may not show any colour of skin and it sounds like the minifigures could be the most customisable in the theme so far. That fits well with the character creation process of Dungeons & Dragons as the minifigures may allow you to represent your character without having to wonder why their chest is yellow, unlike the rest of their skin.

One of these is an entirely new concept for LEGO minifigures and the other is undoubtedly rare. It’s a change that may have been a long time coming too. Looking at LEGO Collectible Minifigures specifically, fantastical or historical minifigures have always shown skin somewhere on their torso (the legs have been more generic though). 71018 Series 17’s Highwayman appears to be the only exception to this within the range of historical or fantastical LEGO Collectible Minifigures.

In any case, minifigures with two different gender-presenting faces on one head are unheard of but should any series be perfect to introduce the change, it would be a Dungeons & Dragons selection. Many previous minifigures from the theme’s 14 years and beyond Collectible Minifigures would have benefitted from this small but effective change but it’s a change that we didn’t know we needed until now.

While it’s an interesting feature reportedly debuting in a LEGO Collectible Minifigures series, nothing about the rumoured LEGO Dungeons & Dragons Collectible Minifigures series has been confirmed at the time of writing. All reported information should be taken with caution to avoid disappointment.

It’s believed that  71047 Dungeons & Dragons is launching in September for €3.99. The upcoming LEGO Ideas Dungeons & Dragons set is also rumoured to be coming our way in April.

It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
