LEGO Malaysia reveals exclusive ‘Brick Date’ GWP for Valentine’s Day – and it’s already sold out

LEGO Malaysia has unveiled an exclusive new ‘Brick Date’ gift-with-purchase for Valentine’s Day – and it’s proved so popular that it’s already sold out.

LEGO Stores around the world occasionally cook up exclusive freebies and promotional items, which are very rarely sets and are more often gear and LEGO-adjacent paraphernalia. That much is true for LEGO Malaysia’s new ‘Brick Date’ box, which sets the scene for a date night anchored around building.

The goodie bag includes a greeting card to give to your significant other, coasters on which to pop your drinks, 23 conversation cards for when you’ve run out of things to ask each other beyond ‘why are we on a LEGO date?’, a very romantic sticker sheet and a heat-shaped lock polybag, which is the only bit of actual LEGO in the mix. It’s all wrapped up in a box that unfolds into a playmat.

That polybag probably won’t take very long to assemble, but the LEGO Group has plenty of sets geared around building together – and the promotional shots of the box suggest picking up 10328 Bouquet of Roses for the occasion. That wouldn’t have been enough on its own to qualify for the freebie, which was originally available in Malaysia with purchases above RM429 (roughly £70).

‘Was’ is the operative word there, though, as the freebie has proved such a winner with LEGO fans in Malaysia that it’s already sold out. Given the nature of this gift, it’s unlikely to show up in other countries – but LEGO fans in the UK, North America and Europe can currently score 40679 Love Gift Box with orders above £70 / $75 / €75 instead.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
