LEGO extends 40579 Eiffel’s Apartment gift-with-purchase beyond Black Friday

The availability period for LEGO Icons 40579 Eiffel’s Apartment – a gift-with-purchase available exclusively with 10307 Eiffel Tower – has been extended beyond Black Friday.

Originally planned to run from November 25 to 28, the 228-piece free gift will now be available all the way through December 31, or while stocks last. The extended availability for the promo suggests the LEGO Group didn’t quite shift as many copies of 10307 Eiffel Tower as it expected to across the Black Friday and Cyber Monday period, despite the 10,001-piece set moving to back order within two days.

It’s still surprising just how much time it’s added on to the promotional window for 40579 Eiffel’s Apartment, however – which may ultimately lead to the freebie being more widespread than initially thought. Sealed copies of the GWP currently start at £57 on BrickLink, with an average price of £111 – or a fifth of 10307 Eiffel Tower’s RRP.

Whether that price will come down the longer the set is available is still not certain, mainly because the requirement to get your hands on it hasn’t changed: buying a copy of 10307 Eiffel Tower at £554.99 / $629.99 / €629.99. That still puts 40579 Eiffel’s Apartment beyond the reach of most shoppers, so it could well hold its aftermarket value in the weeks and months to come.

If that’s the case, selling on your copy might just be a way to make the outlay for 10307 Eiffel Tower slightly more palatable. The rest of the Black Friday and Cyber Monday gifts-with-purchase are no longer available, but if you’re a VIP member – and you ought to be when spending that much – you’ll also receive 40512 Fun and Funky VIP Add-on Pack.

40579 Eiffel’s Apartment is available exclusively with purchases of 10307 Eiffel Tower through December 31, or while stocks last. Check out our review here.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
