LEGO fan designer upgrades 40533 Cosmic Cardboard Adventures GWP

A talented LEGO fan designer has managed to upgrade and enhance the recent 40533 Cosmic Cardboard Adventures gift-with-purchase.

The potential of LEGO sets is often taken to new heights by builders, designers and animators who are able to expand on a product in a myriad number of alternate ways. We’ve recently seen this with 75328 The Mandalorian Helmet making a great giant minifigure head and even a lovingly-crafted recreation of The Muppet Show’s opening credits by the LEGO Group itself, based on the recent CMF series.

In fact, the intricate brick-built mechanisms in the LEGO Muppets promotional video were made by fan designer Steve Guinness, also known as The Brick Consultant. Now Guinness is back with his next enhanced model, one that adds movement and functionality to a recent LEGO gift-with-purchase.

The Brick Consultant has taken 40533 Cosmic Cardboard Adventures and modified the LEGO Ideas set so that a hand crank activities a number of moving features. This includes the cardboard spaceship rocking from side-to-side, the teddy bear mech jumping, stars spinning and a rocket passing by the window. These little touches add even more whimsy to what was already a fun and creative set packed with imagination.

The 40533 Cosmic Cardboard Adventures GWP offer was originally due to end on May 30 but was then extended to June 14. However, the promotional set has now sold out on the UK, US and Europe stores, suggesting that stock levels for the model have finally been exhausted.
