Go behind-the-scenes of the LEGO Muppets minifigures promo video

The LEGO Group’s social media team has revealed exactly how they recreated the opening credits for The Muppet Show in minifigure form.

It’s probably safe to say that the recently-released LEGO 71033 The Muppets has been a big hit with fans and collectors. Launched on May 1 alongside 71035 The Muppets 6 pack, both CMF sets have been running low on stock on the official online store for some time.

To promote the release of the sets, the LEGO Group took to social media with a lovingly-crafted recreation of the original opening credits sequence for The Muppet Show. The video featured the full range of 71033 The Muppets characters, with obvious human hands puppeteering them.

The LEGO Group has now posted a short follow-up video on its social media platforms revealing exactly how the opening scene was brought to life with the assistance of hand-made props. The video also shows how the movement of the LEGO CMF characters was achieved, with intricate brick-built mechanisms and pieces courtesy of fan designer Steve Guinness, also known as The Brick Consultant.

The video arrives on the anniversary of the passing of Jim Henson, the creator of The Muppets and many other beloved characters. 71033 The Muppets is currently listed as being in stock on the UK and Europe online stores, with 71035 The Muppets 6 pack completely sold out for now through LEGO.com in the UK, US and Europe.
