LEGO House ‘AFOL turned LEGO designer’ evening cancelled

An upcoming LEGO House fan evening has been cancelled due to concerns around the coronavirus.

Fans with tickets were set to be attending a fan evening event at the LEGO House this week, but given the concerns around the spread of coronavirus, it has been cancelled. The title of the evening was ‘My way from AFOL to LEGO designer’, focusing on three LEGO designers who went from AFOLs to professionals.

LEGO Community Manager Jan Beyer explained the news via the LEGO Ambassador Network: “The decision was not taken light hearted but was necessary due to the corona virus situation and the to this connected internal LEGO Group guidelines.” [sic]

The evening will be postponed until 2021.

Tickets are available for the Christmas lunch on December 11, which includes a traditional Danish lunch, a presentation from a LEGO designer and after hours access to the Experience Zones.

In terms of the company’s overall strategy and success, CEO Niels B Christiansen recently said that the health scare is creating “some short-term uncertainties, but it doesn’t change the long-term strategy with our investments.”
