LEGO Ideas DnD set could be more practical with one item

The LEGO Ideas Dungeons & Dragons set seems to be near to its reveal and there’s one inclusion that could make it more practical for players.

A new teaser for the upcoming LEGO Ideas Dungeons & Dragons set has the online community excited and while we don’t know when it’s scheduled to be revealed, there’s still time to theorise on how Boltbuild’s original design may be realised as an official LEGO set.

Beyond the design and confirmed minifigures, one small extra item could make the set much more practical, though it may be considered a foreign object for LEGO sets. Previous Dungeons & Dragons product crossovers for Hasbro’s My Little Pony and a few Funko Pop! figures have seen a functional D20 (a 20-sided dice) included as a bonus.

Whether or not the LEGO Group’s manufacturing process would allow inserting an extra plastic dice into each box is unknown. It’s worth noting that these previous examples were limited-edition items and likely weren’t manufactured on the same scale as a LEGO Ideas set would be. Despite this, it’s not like the LEGO Group is unfamiliar with dice at least.

Provided that a non-LEGO D20 dice couldn’t be included in the LEGO Ideas DnD set, the LEGO Group’s past may offer an alternative. The dice element used in LEGO Games and Heroica sets represented a more common but still practical D6 (a six-sided dice). This piece was last seen in 2013 and has likely retired now.

Still, creating a six-sided LEGO build that is evenly weighted doesn’t seem impossible with the modern array of bricks. Rebrickable user 2in1 has offered their take on a LEGO dice without using the specialised element. Whatever form it might have to take, including a dice in the LEGO Ideas DnD set is at least feasible.

A dice is by no means essential for the upcoming LEGO Ideas DnD set, though its inclusion would increase the model’s authenticity and practicality. Arguably, it might have been more appropriate for one of the other entries in the original contest though.

Nothing has been confirmed for the LEGO Ideas Dungeons & Dragons set beyond that it’s coming and it has minifigures though the teaser suggests that news is coming soon.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
