LEGO Ideas Twilight set is attracting attention even for those who hate Twilight
Don’t let a little thing like disliking a franchise distract you from the fact that an upcoming LEGO Ideas set is a very aesthetically-pleasing set.
2023 marks 15 years since the first Twilight film was released and next year will be the 20th anniversary of the first book’s release, making it potentially the perfect time for the release of a connected LEGO set. Just the LEGO Group’s luck, then, that a Twilight-themed set just got confirmed as an upcoming LEGO Ideas release.
Nick Micheels’s Twilight: Cullen House is a brick-built recreation of the vampire family’s forest home, sticking close to every detail from the movie. In fact, it’s not just based on a set; the house is a real one that has earned architectural acclaim around the world, attracting attention even before it appeared in the Twilight series.

As such, it’s perhaps no surprise that the LEGO Ideas set is attracting attention even from those who dislike the Twilight franchise. After all, it’s hardly a rare thing to dislike the teen-focused franchise; even one of its stars, Robert Pattinson, has been frequently scathing about the divisive movies. (Side note: if you haven’t seen some of Pattinson’s interviews about the movie, do yourself a favour and look them out today. We’ll wait for you to come back.)
“I don’t care about Twilight at all but I like the house,” commented one person on reddit. “The Architecture series is just skylines and landmarks now. Bring back the houses.”
Indeed, the LEGO Architecture theme has been dominated with Skylines sets, making up half of the sets released under the theme in the last three years.
“While I’m not a Twilight fan at all, it’s an architecturally neat modern building,” agreed another, while someone else wrote: “I’m not interested in Twilight but that house looks pretty great just as a cool-looking house.”
Located in Portland, Oregon, the real-life Cullen house is actually known as the Hoke House, named after its owner John Hoke, a Nike footwear director. It was completed in 2007, just a year prior to the first Twilight film and the only one it actually featured in. It takes up 4,159 square feet and features four bedrooms, four-and-a-half bathrooms, and a huge five-car garage.
The tri-level home is currently inhabited, having sold for $2.5 million (£1.9 million) in March, 2022 but before that it won an award for its impressive architectural design, the 2012 ASLA Oregon ‘Merit Award’ from 2Ink. Its sharp angles and the modern use of glass make for a dramatic final build, meaning it’s no surprise that it’s attracted so much attention over the years – and now from LEGO fans too.

While the minifigures and some of the interior details (as well as potentially a buildable werewolf prowling the garden) will likely mark the LEGO Ideas set as a Twilight model, rather than any old house. It could easily scratch the itch for fans of LEGO Architecture, filling the gap left behind by the absence of building-focused sets like 2015’s 21023 Flatiron Building or 2016’s 21031 Burg Khalifa, both of which focused on architecturally impressive buildings.
