LEGO Marvel’s rumoured Galactus figure has a few massive options

The Fantastic Four and Galactus are finally rumoured to receive a LEGO Marvel set in 2024, and the villain could take many different forms.

A new report from a.clay.bricks, following false rumours earlier this week, posits that Galactus is coming to the world of LEGO in 76316 Galactus vs The Fantastic Four next year. While the team and villain are both confirmed for a Marvel Studios film, this set is reportedly based on the comics

In custom creations, Galactus has commonly been depicted as an upscaled minifigure and LEGO Marvel has plenty of experience in this field, just not with Galactus specifically. Monty_builds’ version on Rebrickable is just one of many similar builds inspired by Galactus’ role in the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game as well as his comic appearances.

While this may be the most appealing option for many enthusiasts, it’s certainly not the only way that Galactus could be depicted in the rumoured LEGO set.

The brick-built LEGO Marvel figures, including 76256 Ant-Man Construction Figure, offer a great template for Galactus should the LEGO designers not wish to depict him as a giant minifigure. The base design of these figures might need to be modified for a bulkier foundation, at least to support Galactus’ giant helmet.

Alternatively, there’s no word on a price or piece count for 76316 Galactus vs The Fantastic Four just yet and it may be more beneficial to follow in the footsteps of LEGO Super Mario. Bowser’s build in 71411 The Mighty Bowser can be operated like a puppet and with a different body shape, this strategy would fit Galactus well.

Much like 71411 The Mighty Bowser, play features can be integrated in the form of weak points for minifigures to target. This would require a higher piece count for the rumoured set though. Deebo Bricks‘ custom creation offers a similar idea of a non-minifigure Galactus.

Another option for the rumoured LEGO Marvel model may be to not depict all of Galactus but focus on a more approachable, larger scale version of the character. It might not be many enthusiasts’ preferred option but for the sake of considering every option, something between the sizes of 75997 Ant-Man and the Wasp and 76215 Black Panther may be a possibility.

A bust of Galactus with detached hands might allow the LEGO designers to depict a larger-scale Galactus than including the body and legs would allow them to. This comes at the sacrifice of a full figure of the character though. Admittedly, this may be the least ideal choice for Marvel fans who have been waiting for a LEGO Galactus but thankfully, nothing about the rumoured set has been confirmed.

Treat this rumour with caution until more is officially announced, especially considering how the LEGO rumour mill has been in the past week. Here’s what’s currently rumoured for LEGO Marvel next year.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
