LEGO 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad GWP official listing revealed

An official listing for an upcoming LEGO GWP has been revealed, complete with full details and images of 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad.

A LEGO Certified Store in Australia recently gave us our first look at 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad, a micro model GWP that’s due to arrive sometime this month. An early review of the set stated that the build might be available from February 16 for LEGO Insiders and for everyone else from February 19, with availability lasting until February 25 and an eye-watering minimum spend of £180 / $200 / €200.

Now, thanks to a listing on LEGO.com, we have more details on the upcoming GWP, complete with official images. 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad is a 325-piece set that includes four micro models based on classic LEGO Space builds released between 1978 and 1983: the rocket launchpad and space station from 483 Alpha Rocket Base, the rocket transport vehicle from 6950 Mobile Rocket Transport and the spaceship from 6803 Space Patrol.

Of note is the ability to place the rocket on the back of the transport, swapping out the radar dish section, and the suspension on the latter vehicle’s wheels which appear to allow for a number of different display options.

40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad also includes two micro space characters in spacesuits and helmets, which can be placed inside the various vehicles. Previous reports had mentioned they might be called ‘Space Babies’, but it looks as if the LEGO Group has instead now opted not to send infants out on interstellar missions.

The listing for 40712 Micro Rocket Launchpad states that the model is indeed a GWP and has a crossed-out price of £26.99 / $29.94 / €29.99, although that’s no indication of the final spending threshold that will be required to obtain the upcoming promotional set.
