The cottage itself is a hinged model measuring 20cm tall, 20cm deep and 35cm wide that can be opened up to reveal its detailed interior. Inside are multiple rooms including sleeping, dining and music areas, as well as a busy kitchen. One side of the roof can also be removed for easier access to the upstairs area, which features a bedroom with seven beds and an attic space.

The exterior of 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage appears to closely match the look of the animated movie location, complete with yellow thatched roof, tan walls and exposed wooden beams. The LEGO Disney set is rounded out with small builds of a wishing well and Snow White’s gold and glass casket.

LEGO Disney 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage details

As an 18+ set comprised of 2,228 pieces, 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage looks to be packed with plenty of details. There are printed pieces for the ends of the exterior’s wooden joists, slanted window shutters and casket, a couple of birdhouses dotted around outside, a gem-sorting machine at the rear, heart-shaped elements used in the construction of the chairs and much more.

In addition, a small number of stickered pieces can also be spotted, such as on the wooden pipe organ and what may be individual names on the dwarfs’ beds, as in the original animated movie.

LEGO Disney 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage minifigures

43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage comes with a total of 10 minifigures, although three have been seen before. Snow White and the Prince last popped up in 43222 Disney Castle and the Evil Queen was included in 43227 Villain Icons, with the trio appearing to be identical to their previous versions.

All-new for the LEGO Disney set are the seven dwarfs, each of which boasts a double-sided head print, front and back printed torsos, short leg elements, and beards for all but Dopey, who does at least get a dual-moulded hat and ears piece.

Rounding out 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage are six animal figures to populate the build, with two squirrels, two birds, a rabbit and a butterfly.

One interesting bit of functionality in the LEGO Disney set comes with the inclusion of a handy light brick. The piece is concealed within the hearth in the kitchen and can be activated to provide a warm glow to the enchanting scene.

We haven’t been able to spot exactly how the light brick is turned on and off, so it’s possible there may be a hidden switch concealed somewhere within the detailed kitchen area. We’ll know more about that specific functionality once we get our hands on the upcoming LEGO Disney build.

LEGO Disney 43242 Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs’ Cottage arrives on March 1 for LEGO Insiders, before receiving a wider launch on March 4. The LEGO Disney set will be priced at £189.99 in the UK, $219.99 in the US and €219.99 in Europe.

The light brick button is clearly visible on the outside of the chimney under the base of the tree.
