LEGO Collectible Minifigures 2024 said to include an entire Space series
Three more LEGO Collectible Minifigures series are apparently on the way in 2024 – including one seemingly dedicated entirely to LEGO Space.
As per listings on price comparison site brickmerge.de, the next trio of Collectible Minifigures series will follow a long-established pattern, arriving in January, May and September 2024. These series will presumably all be packaged in the new cardboard boxes debuting with 71039 Marvel Series 2 next month, making individual minifigures much trickier to find.
The LEGO Group will apparently kick 2024 off with 71045 Series 25, which follows another conventional template in starting the year with an original, in-house series. Exactly which characters will be included is still a mystery at this stage, but we’re likely looking at a neat dozen based on recent series (71038 Disney 100’s 18 minifigures feels like a one-off, with one eye on 71039 Marvel Series 2).
71046 will seemingly then follow in May, and brickmerge.de has intriguingly tagged it as ‘Space’. That could mean any number of things, but one option is that the popularity of 71037 Series 24’s brown Classic Space astronaut has encouraged the LEGO Group to release an entire rainbow of astronauts across a dedicated Collectible Minifigures series.
If that feels too lacking in variety – and it would be – there are other potential avenues a space-themed series could take. A Classic Space line-up could include more than just astronauts, for example, perhaps acting as a ‘greatest hits’ of subthemes including Blacktron, Futuron, Ice Planet and so on. Alternatively, it could just be a codename for a licensed series related to a sci-fi property.
That would chime with the pattern we’ve seen across the Collectible Minifigures theme for the past few years, which has seen a licensed series arrive on shelves in May (Looney Tunes, The Muppets, Disney et al). And the potential options in that case are wide open: is Dune worthy of an entire series beyond its one rumoured LEGO Icons set? Probably not. Could this be our Star Wars series at long last? That also doesn’t feel likely.
Whatever it ends up being, 71046 Space reportedly won’t be our last Collectible Minifigures series for 2024 – Instagram user 1414falconfan claims that brickmerge.de also had a listing for 71047 at one time, although it doesn’t appear to be on the site now.
