LEGO confirms new Marvel and Star Wars specials at SDCC – and teases something ‘confidential’

The LEGO booth at San Diego Comic-Con confirms new Star Wars and Marvel animated specials are on the way – and teases something ‘confidential’.

A ‘coming attractions’ board at the LEGO Brickbuster Video booth lists a packed schedule of upcoming TV shows, specials and shorts anchored around the brick, from NINJAGO: Dragons Rising and DREAMZzz: Trials of the Dreamchasers to LEGO MASTERS Season 4 and LEGO MASTERS: Holiday Bricktacular, and nestled alongside them are a couple of previously-unannounced specials.

LEGO Marvel Avengers: Code Red is a new animated special involving MCU superheroes Iron Man, Captain America, Black Widow, Thor, Hulk, Sam Wilson Captain America and Black Panther, and according to posters from the SDCC booth will debut on Disney+ this autumn. The villains dotted in the background suggest the special will pull together every Marvel baddie vaguely related to the colour red, including Red Skull and what looks like X-Men character Omega Red.

LEGO Star Wars: Mandoween – Celebrate the Season, meanwhile, is likely a new animated short coming to YouTube in time for Halloween. Previous ‘Celebrate the Season’ shorts have leaned into occasions like Father’s Day, May the 4th, Christmas, New Year’s Eve and summer holidays, and it sounds like this one will draw on characters from Star Wars: The Mandalorian for the spooky season.

LEGO Disney Princess: The Castle Quest is already confirmed to be a full animated special arriving on Disney+ on August 18, but more intriguing is the big red ‘confidential’ sticker over whatever’s listed above it. All we can make out so far is that it starts with ‘LEGO’ and ends in ‘ing’, but beyond that it’s really anyone’s guess. We’ll hopefully learn more about this secret show, special or series at some stage during SDCC.

San Diego Comic-Con 2023 runs from July 20 to 23. Click here to head inside the LEGO booth, which is jam-packed with new sets, enormous builds and retro artwork.
