New LEGO NINJAGO minifigure debuts near-perfect piece for Marvel CMFs Series 2

The new range of LEGO NINJAGO Dragons Rising sets has given us a nearly perfect piece for the rumoured second series of LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures.

Said to be arriving on shelves in September as the first Collectible Minifigures release in cardboard boxes, Marvel Series 2 is thought to draw once again from Disney+ TV shows – including Hawkeye, Moon Knight, X-Men ’97, Echo, Loki, She-Hulk, Agatha: Coven of Chaos and Werewolf by Night. That’s in line with the selection from 71031 Marvel Studios, which took inspiration from shows including What If…? and WandaVision.

The existence of more Marvel minifigures is still just a rumour at this point, but a new LEGO NINJAGO minifigure has now added fresh fuel to the fire. The newly-revealed summer 2023 sets debut a brand new hood element for the ninja, used across the core cast of characters – Lloyd, Jay, Kai, Cole, Nya and Zane – and Arin, who’s joining the series for the first time.

That’s the same piece used in seven different colours, but it’s Zane’s that’s most interesting to us, because it looks almost perfect for a LEGO Moon Knight minifigure. And wouldn’t you know it, Moon Knight himself is rumoured to be among the 12 new characters in the second series of Marvel Collectible Minifigures.

We say ‘nearly perfect’ up top because the shaping isn’t totally ideal – the point in the centre of the hood could be a touch more pronounced, while it feels a little full around the sides – but this is LEGO, where artistic interpretation often trumps accuracy, so we can easily imagine the LEGO Group repurposing this piece for a Moon Knight minifigure. If nothing else, you’ll be able to use it to create your own custom Moon Knight when the NINJAGO sets launch June 1.

Zane is most easily accessible in 71791 Zane’s Dragon Power Spinjitzu Race Car, which retails for £29.99 / $34.99 / €34.99, but you’ll also find him in 71796 Elemental Dragon vs. The Empress Mech. Bonus: this hood could also be the perfect starting point for a custom Assassin’s Creed Ezio minifigure…

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
