LEGO NINJAGO writer teases new spin-off TV series for 2025

A LEGO NINJAGO: Dragons Rising writer has teased the existence of a new NINJAGO spin-off series on social media.

NINJAGO is no stranger to miniseries that sit beyond its regular seasons (such as The Island. which sits between Seasons 13 and 14), and it sounds like the production team have another one up their sleeves for 2025. Over on BlueSky, one NINJAGO fan asked writers Chris Wyatt and Kevin Burke whether a new show titled NINJAGO: Monstrosity is canon to Dragons Rising and Masters of Spinjitzu – and Burke responded with: “Maybe… :)”

That’s not quite outright confirmation that the show is happening, but it’s almost as good. Very little else is known about NINJAGO: Monstrosity right now, including when it could release, how long it might be and even whether that is indeed the official title. Dragons Rising is between series at the moment, with the second half of Season 2 dropping on Netflix back in October 2024 and Season 3 expected to arrive this spring.

There’s a small window there that NINJAGO: Monstrosity could fit into ahead of Season 3, but it could just as easily debut between the two parts of Season 3 (assuming Dragons Rising continues the release pattern of its first two seasons). It’s also not yet clear whether any of the rumoured LEGO NINJAGO 2025 sets might take inspiration from Monstrosity.

That’s definitely a possibility, though, given the theme debuted an entire wave of sets hooked to NINJAGO: The Island back in 2021. We’ll hopefully learn more about NINJAGO: Monstrosity soon.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
