Exclusive LEGO Shackleton’s Lifeboat GWP sells out already – and appears on secondhand markets

The LEGO Group’s Black Friday release for 2024 has proven popular, with LEGO Icons 10335 The Endurance going on back order and its exclusive GWP selling out fast.

In some regions around the world, including Australia and the United States, 10335 The Endurance is already on back order, with Australians needing to wait 30 days and Americans until December 19. Unsurprisingly, this flurry of demand for the LEGO Icons set has also led to its exclusive GWP, 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat, selling out in those regions.

If you’re lucky enough to be in an area where it’s still available and were planning on buying 10335 The Endurance together with its GWP, it seems there’s no time to waste. Both are still available in the UK and Europe, along with other regions around the world.

As has become standard for exclusive GWPs – which we’ve seen a number of in 2024 – there are already listings for 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat on eBay, reaching as high as £82.99 for the gift alone and up to £259.99 for the duo of 10335 The Endurance and 40729 Shackleton’s Lifeboat.

To avoid paying those secondhand premiums, now is the time to buy the latest LEGO Icons set directly from LEGO.com. Not only will it earn you its exclusive GWP, but also two further freebies, 40699 Retro Record Player and 40700 Winter Holiday Train.

I write about all the very best fandoms – and that means LEGO, of course. Spending so much time looking at and talking about LEGO sets is dangerous for my bank balance, but the LEGO shelves are thriving. You win some, you lose some.

Maybe Lego should only allowed 1 set per person. As it seems some idiots just buy a lot of sets so they can resell. So what happens people that really do put these kits together are left out. So maybe nobody should buy from these resellers. Just a thought.

Absolutely terrible rollout from Lego. Why would they allow all the scalpers (who never build a Lego set) to order up to 3 sets and wipe out the GWP too? No consideration for VIP Insiders or real Lego builders. Might be time to sell my 200+ sets and move on to another hobby.

been doing this a while. got online before midnight. had my cart filled at 2 minutes after midnight. wasn’t sure I had the silly ass chronometer in my cart but I had done the buy. A half hour later I got back to my cart. finally spent all of that time in queue. miraculously the silly ass. chronometer was in my cart and I paid and got out of there but it took 30 minutes after my cart was full to pay for my cart. got both boats too.

It would appear, at least in the United States, that while the Shackleton kit is on backorder, the GWP lifeboat kit is completely sold out. Of course, you can always hop over to e-bay and pay four times the listed price of $24.99 (with some offerings as high as $200 on ebay!!). Sigh.
