LEGO Star Wars May the 4th 40591 Death Star II sells out in the UK and Europe

This year’s headline LEGO Star Wars May the 4th freebie has sold out in the UK and Europe, midway through the planned promotional period.

40591 Death Star II was originally available with all LEGO Star Wars purchases over £130 / $150 / €150 from May 1, and was scheduled to be free right through May 7 – or while stock levels held out. It now looks like demand was higher than the LEGO Group had anticipated, because the 289-piece display model is no longer adding to baskets in the UK and Europe.

That means anyone this side of the Atlantic yet to order has missed out on the opportunity to bag 40591 Death Star II – at least online – but all is not lost: 5007840 Return of the Jedi 40th Collectible and 30654 X-wing Starfighter are still free with LEGO Star Wars orders above £80 / $85 / €85 and £35 / $40 / €40 respectively. You might also be able to find the Death Star in stores, but best to call ahead to confirm.

40591 Death Star II is still available in the US, meanwhile – but if supplies are already running out in other regions, best not to wait too long to place your order. Seven new LEGO Star Wars sets have just launched for May the 4th, while the LEGO Group is offering huge discounts on older models for just 100 VIP points apiece.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
