LEGO Star Wars: Ahsoka’s minifigures are very nearly perfect

A first batch of character posters for Star Wars: Ahsoka suggest that September’s new LEGO Star Wars minifigures are almost perfect.

Ahsoka Tano’s solo series – which looks more and more like a live-action sequel to Star Wars Rebels – kicks off on August 23, and Disney has now debuted six new character posters in anticipation of its double-episode premiere. There are three apiece for the major heroes and villains of the show (with one very blue exception), offering our best look yet at famous animated faces brought to life by the series’ cast.

That means this is also our best opportunity to compare Ahsoka, Hera, Sabine and the rest to their LEGO Star Wars minifigure counterparts, which are due to arrive on shelves on September 1 across three new sets: 75357 Ghost & Phantom II, 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle, and 75364 New Republic E-wing vs. Shin Hati’s Starfighter. Check out each of the six characters (and their minifigures) below.

Ahsoka Tano

No surprises here: the show’s trailers have showed off plenty of Ahsoka, a character we’ve already met (in this era) in The Mandalorian Season 2. Portrayed by Rosario Dawson in live action, Ahsoka Tano heads up the new Disney+ series – but you’ll only find her in 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle, as the LEGO Group prioritises variety above all else in the show’s initial range of sets.

Her minifigure is pretty much everything we could have hoped for at this stage, combining a new, shorter lekku piece with trans-clear lightsaber blades. Is she reason enough alone to buy the T-6? Probably not, but there are a few others…

Sabine Wren

…like Sabine Wren, for instance. Trailers for Star Wars: Ahsoka suggest the Mandalorian warrior is now apprenticed to Ahsoka, and her character poster shows Natasha Liu Bordizzo’s character wielding a lightsaber that once belonged to Ezra Bridger. Her LEGO minifigure in 75362 Ahsoka Tano’s T-6 Jedi Shuttle includes both helmet and hair options, and while LEGO purple is slightly less electric than Sabine’s hair dye, the style is pretty close.

Her face and torso prints look spot on too, but she is unfortunately missing the New Republic emblem printed on her arm. Fingers crossed an even more detailed Sabine is on the cards somewhere down the road.

Hera Syndulla

The Ahsoka series marks the live-action debut of not only Sabine Wren, but also Hera Syndulla, played by Mary Elizabeth Winstead. She’s brandishing her blaster in her character poster, looking as fierce and determined as ever, while decked out in her leather jacket and orange trousers. All those details are present and correct in her LEGO minifigure in 75357 Ghost & Phantom II, right down to the red and white emblem on her breast pocket.

Like Sabine, Hera really only suffers from a lack of arm printing – but the mix of white and blue in her eyes also makes her look like she’s lacking pupils altogether, at least in the set’s early renders. Here’s hoping her face print looks better in person.

Baylan Skoll

Portrayed by the late Ray Stevenson, little is known about Baylan Skoll’s character going into Ahsoka – but that reddish-orange lightsaber suggests he isn’t fighting the good fight. You’ll find his LEGO minifigure in 75364 New Republic E-wing vs. Shin Hati’s Starfighter, and beyond beefier shoulder pads, there’s very little to take issue with here – at least when comparing Baylan to his character poster.

The same character has appeared with both a hood and cloak in the trailers for the show, so options for either or both would have been appreciated for his minifigure. The good news is that those things are not especially difficult to add yourself. Likewise a more accurately-coloured lightsaber…

Shin Hati

Did we mention a hood and cloak? Both are sorely missing for the mysterious Shin Hati, too, who’s looking plenty shifty in her character poster. Played by Ivanna Sakhno, Hati is one of three antagonists featured in this first batch of posters, and is presumably the apprentice to Baylan Skoll’s master. The LEGO Group has leaned into dark tan as the primary colour for her outfit in 75364 New Republic E-wing vs. Shin Hati’s Starfighter, and based on the trailers it seems to suit.

Her hairpiece feels a bit less fitting – it’s borrowed from Qira and recoloured blonde, where maybe this Friends hairpiece would have been better suited – and she could also benefit from an orange lightsaber, but her face print does the job. Not the best Ahsoka-series minifigure, it’s fair to say.

Morgan Elsbeth

You can’t tell from this character poster, but we’re pretty sure the lower half of Morgan Elsbeth’s outfit isn’t just a black void. That’s exactly what you’d assume from looking at her minifigure in 75364 New Republic E-wing vs. Shin Hati’s Starfighter, though, which includes an unprinted black dress element. Thankfully, it’s really the only sticking point for Diana Lee Inosanto’s character.

Her torso, head and even her hairpiece are pretty much everything you’d expect for a character we still know precious little about, despite her appearance in The Mandalorian Season 2. If you’re hoping to recreate her duel with Ahsoka Tano in that episode, you might want to swap out her dress for more flexible legs.

Save for a couple of minor misgivings – Shin’s hair, Morgan’s unprinted dress – these six minifigures (at least) feel as close to perfect as you can expect from LEGO Star Wars in 2023. Notably missing from this initial line-up – across both posters and LEGO sets – is Grand Admiral Thrawn, who is already confirmed to be Ahsoka’s primary antagonist. In line with previous Star Wars shows, he’ll probably get a poster as the series goes on. If and when a LEGO minifigure might follow is less certain…
