Updated LEGO Star Wars Commander Fox minifigure isn’t accurate

The upcoming LEGO Star Wars 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship includes a new Commander Fox minifigure that unfortunately just isn’t accurate.

The LEGO Group recently officially confirmed the existence of 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship, a 1,083-piece version of the Low-Altitude Aerial Transport (LAAT) featuring a striking and mostly-red colour scheme. The LEGO Star Wars set is due for release on September 1 and will be priced at £129.99 / $139.99 / €149.99.

The first minifigure-scale version of the vehicle since 2013’s 75021 Republic Gunship, the upcoming model includes brand-new versions of Phase II Commander Fox, two Coruscant Guard Clone Troopers, Chancellor Palpatine and Padmé Amidala. While some fans may be content with the included minifigure selection, others may baulk at the inaccuracy of one character in particular.

A version of Commander Fox last appeared in 7681 Separatist Spider Droid, released in 2008. Boasting Phase I variant armour, the minifigure featured the character’s trademark red, white and grey uniform, representing how CC-1010 appeared during the Clone Wars era.

The updated Commander Fox minifigure included with 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship takes its unique Phase II design from the look of the character in The Clone Wars Season 6 episode, Crisis at the Heart, representing his rank within the Coruscant Guard.

However, the new minifigure appears to be based on an incorrect design that first appeared in a LEGO Star Wars: Castaways event earlier this year, with the lower half of Commander Fox’s chest armour and kneepads being white when they should be red. In addition, CC-1010 is missing his kama (kilt-like skirt) and is supposed to have a black visor instead of grey. We’d also like to have seen the character gain dual-moulded legs and printed arms, but that’s probably just nit-picking on our part.

For the price of 75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship, fans may have been hoping that such minor inaccuracies would have been ironed out in advance, but collectors should still be content with a new version of Commander Fox, even if the upcoming clone isn’t quite what they were expecting.

75354 Coruscant Guard Gunship will be launching on LEGO.com and in LEGO Stores from September 1 for £129.99 / $139.99 / €149.99.
