LEGO VIP scheme goes digital

The LEGO VIP card is going to become a digital app in the next few months.

With the LEGO Group looking to reduce the company’s impact on the planet, the VIP card will be going digital in the near future. Nothing will change for shop.LEGO.com orders, but for in-store purchases, customers will use an app rather than a plastic card.

According to an e-mail from shop.LEGO.com, a new online rewards centre will be the place to manage the VIP account, including new ways to earn and spend points.

Fans do not need to take any action at the moment, more information will be shared when the new functions and features become available. Those who would like to retain a physical card will be able to request one.

Double VIP points are currently available at shop.LEGO.com on any order, meaning that shoppers get the equivalent of 10% LEGO cashback instead of the usual 5%. Recent releases at the online shop include LEGO Creator Expert 10265 Ford Mustang (review) and LEGO Ideas 21316 The Flintstones (review), both of which offer building experiences targeted at the discerning LEGO afficianado.
