LEGO Wicked theme rumoured to include mini-dolls instead of minifigures

More details have surfaced on the rumoured LEGO Wicked theme, including potential piece counts for its sets – and that it’s apparently going to include mini-dolls.

The LEGO Group originally teased the prospect of a Wicked tie-in earlier this week, following the first trailer for the new movie dropping during the Super Bowl. Instagram user and generally reliable rumour source Brick Clicker was quick to back that up, suggesting that the new LEGO theme codenamed ‘Bright’ is indeed Wicked, and an entire wave of sets is in the works.

Fellow source of new rumours maxbautde now claims that the LEGO Wicked sets – based on the silver-screen adaptation of the Broadway play – will include mini-dolls rather than minifigures, placing them closer in style and format to the LEGO Friends and Disney Princess themes. That’s bad news for anyone hoping to expand their collection of LEGO The Wizard of Oz minifigures.

Max has also shared piece counts and European prices for three of the four sets rumoured to be on the way, which run the gamut from €29.99 up to €89.99. You can check out all the latest details in the table below.

These sets are still said to be dropping on October 1, alongside a full wave of LEGO Fortnite models. Wicked arrives in cinemas on November 27, and will be the first of two films telling the story of the stage musical, which is essentially the origin story of the Wicked Witch of the West. It’s directed by Jon M. Chu and stars Cynthia Erivo, Ariana Grande, Michelle Yeoh and Jeff Goldblum.

Remember that while the LEGO Group is busy teasing a Wicked collab, further details should be taken lightly until we get an official reveal.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
