WATCH: LEGO’s 2023 NINJAGO sets look very familiar…

Recognise those LEGO NINJAGO 2023 sets? You should: for veteran fans of the theme, they’re incredibly familiar…

Picture it: bleary-eyed and probably in some measure of mental, emotional or physical distress from the celebrations the night before, you stumble down to your nearest LEGO Store on New Year’s Day to check out all the new stuff, and make a beeline for the bright red NINJAGO boxes. But what’s this? Hang on… don’t we already have this set? And that one?

Before you know it, you’ve convinced yourself that your New Year’s Eve celebrations were maybe a little too wild, because you’ve somehow partied all the way back to 2011. Your friends and family try to tell you that it’s actually 2023, but all the proof you need is in those NINJAGO sets. You’ve definitely seen those mechs, dragons, jets, cars and bikes before. Pretty soon you’re being zipped up in a straightjacket and carted off to the nearest asylum.

Don’t want it to happen to you? Check out our latest YouTube video to reassure yourself that these newly-revealed LEGO NINJAGO sets really are fresh off the production lines at Billund, even if they do feel all too familiar.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
