Marvel announces more delays, decreasing 2024 schedule
More Marvel Cinematic Universe movie delays have been officially announced, following the end of the lengthy SAG-AFTRA strike.
With The Marvels now in cinemas around the world, Marvel Studios has made the decision to move the release dates for several of its movies back by a considerable amount of time. This comes after a deal was reached between unions and studios, ending the recent SAG-AFTRA strike.
We’ve outlined the changes below and it’s had a massive effect on the Marvel theatrical release schedule for 2024.
| Movie | Old release date | New release date |
|---|---|---|
| Untitled Deadpool Movie (Deadpool 3) | May 3, 2024 | July 26, 2024 |
| Captain America: Brave New World | July 26, 2024 | February 14, 2025 |
| Thunderbolts | December 20, 2024 | July 25, 2025 |
| Blade | February 14, 2025 | November 7, 2025 |
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has gone from three new films in 2024 to only one – the third Deadpool movie in the middle of the year. Rumour has it that Captain America: Brace New World has a LEGO set coming in 2024. While the report has yet to be confirmed, it could be held until later in the year or even 2025 to better coincide with the new release date.
For Marvel enthusiasts, there are several series currently in the works for Disney+ so there should be at least a couple in 2024. However, the Marvel Cinematic Universe is undoubtedly going to be quieter in 2024 after these delays.
