Despite new rules, a modular building-alike has still managed to find its way into the sixth series of the LEGO BrickLink Designer Program.
Modulars – like life – find a way in the BrickLink Designer Program despite efforts to try and reduce the number of modular building-compatible creations in the various rounds. A new rule that went into effect for the sixth series prohibited sets that are distinctly part of a theme, including the Modular Buildings Collection.

Immediately, fan designers found ways to build around this rule but at the time, it wasn't clear whether any of them would be accepted following Brickester's modular Brick Cross Station and other similar sets. Now, the five finalists for Series 6 have been revealed and just as the rule has been implemented, a remake of a modular project has been accepted for an official build.
Notably, The Art Factory is also from Brickester and while their new take on the model does not have a modular base, it does have the footprint of one in all dimensions. Only the foundations have majorly changed to be more standalone compared to the Series 5 version of the model that was not accepted for a set.
During the official live reveal event, even host SHYTIMEisMYTIME mentioned how easy it would be to modify the floor of the Series 6 finalist to be a modular-compatible model, given that it has a 32x32 stud footprint.
It only goes to show that the demand for LEGO modular buildings is far too strong and even the BrickLink team weren't able to resist including this model in the sixth series. Surely, a fan-made modification to switch the side-built base for a baseplate won't be bar behind when crowdfunding for this and the other four finalists starts in October 2025.
It's not a dissimilar situation to how enthusiasts have been modifying
