More images of LEGO Indiana Jones 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol

The LEGO Hungary Facebook page has published more images of 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol, giving us a better look at the brand new LEGO Indiana Jones 18+ set.

It’s still yet to be officially revealed by the LEGO Group, but the company’s Hungarian Facebook page has gone ahead and published lifestyle photos of the biggest of the three new Indiana Jones sets. 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol is due to be joined on shelves by 77012 Fighter Plane Chase and 77013 Escape from the Lost Tomb, with an expected release date of April 2023 for all three models.

While we’re still waiting for a better glimpse of the smaller sets through official channels, these images tell us almost everything we need to know about 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol. The diorama-style set is packed with play features galore, recreating almost every key moment from the opening sequence of Raiders of the Lost Ark.

That includes a brick-built boulder, pictured mid-roll – suggesting there’s a release mechanism of some sort – and a pit for the included minifigures to swing across. The set is capped off at one end with a plinth of the Golden Idol, and we’d put good money on there being some kind of function to collapse the chamber. We’ll have to wait until we get our hands on the set to find out for sure, though.

Like 76956 T. Rex Breakout and 75330 Dagobah Jedi Training Diorama, 77015 Temple of the Golden Idol includes tiles with quotes from the movie – but they’re apparently stickers this time, rather than prints. The quotes here come from Satipo and Indiana Jones, both of whom are among the four-strong minifigure line-up in the 18+ set. They’re accompanied by René Belloq and a Hovitos Warrior.

77015 Temple of the Golden Idol includes 1,545 pieces and is expected to retail for €149.99 in Europe. An official reveal can’t be too far away now, so we’ll hopefully get a better look at all three LEGO Indiana Jones 2023 sets any day now.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
