New minifigure customisation is coming to LEGO Minecraft in 2024

LEGO Minecraft’s minifigures are getting surprisingly stylish in 2024 as a new piece has been hiding in plain sight for weeks.

The new and so far only Minecraft Legends set, 21257 The Devourer Showdown, includes a variety of new pieces specific to Minecraft Legends, but one will find plenty of use throughout the rest of the theme.

Official images revealed earlier this year confirmed that 21257 The Devourer Showdown features four new pieces earlier this year – the head for the Piglin, the player character’s head, the golden lute and a neck bracket element. The latter was the least clearly shown and its purpose was previously unknown.

An early look at the model from Ashnflash has detailed exactly what this mystery element is – a cape. Players can equip these items to their Minecraft characters as long as they have one in their dressing room when customising their avatar, or have a qualifying code on the original edition of the game.

The cape in 21257 The Devourer Showdown is blank for now and appears to be an entirely new element. However, it could be easy for the LEGO Group to change the colour and add some designs in the future, building on the extensive selection of unique LEGO Minecraft minifigures with a stylish new type of accessory.

At the time of writing, 21257 The Devourer Showdown seems to be the only set to include this cape element but for LEGO Minecraft enthusiasts, it’s a promising sign for the theme in the future.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
