New Disney mural in London made from LEGO bricks
Artist Lakwena Maciver has created an incredible LEGO Disney mural that’s currently on display in London, and three more by other talented artists are on the way.
The mural, which is over 4.5m high and made up of over 220,000 LEGO bricks, shows a variety of classic Disney characters, from Tiana and Lightning Mcqueen to Winnie the Pooh and Pocahontas. The colourful mural shows the characters in a castle window display.
The mural was made to celebrate Disney’s 100th anniversary which is coming up later this year, and three more murals have already been planned for Manchester, Paris, and New York City. It also celebrates the newly revealed 43222 Disney Castle, which comes with eight minifigures in the set.

When asked about her inspiration for the mural, Lakwena Maciver stated: “When I lived in Ethiopia as a child in the 90s, there wasn’t access to many films, so we would watch Disney videos on repeat.”
She went on to note that, “The idea of magical possibilities that Disney captures so well definitely had a big impact on my imagination as a child, and has therefore informed my adult work and life as an artist.”
For families who want to get in on the fun, the three other murals will be available for fans to build together at free events at the other locations. Once completed, the four LEGO Disney murals will all be on display at the LEGO House in Billund from 23rd August 2023.
