New LEGO mode is coming to Fortnite next week

It’s official, LEGO is coming to Fortnite and we got a sneak peek at the survival crafting mode in the Fortnite Big Bang live event.

The LEGO and Fortnite collaboration is launching on December 7 as what appears to be a permanent addition to the game. Named LEGO Fortnite in the announcement post on social media, the mode is described as a survival crafting adventure. At the time of writing, the link is not working and the trailer only showcases the Brite Bomber skin being transformed into a minifigure.

However, the Big Bang live event has just ended in-game and it included what is likely a preview of what to expect from LEGO Fortnite. Various minifigures including existing skins with adapted designs to best suit minifigure proportions were on a non-LEGO island with brick-built structures and items. These included axes, parachutes, houses and castles.

As was likely expected, it appears that building plays a big part in the survival crafting mode. It’s launching on December 7 and as Fortnite is free to play with in-game purchases, we may be able to expect the same from the LEGO mode.

A press release announcing the mode confirms that this is just the first LEGO experience coming as part of the long-term partnership with Epic Games.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
