New possible way of identifying LEGO 71039 Marvel Series 2 minifigures

As the release of LEGO 71039 Marvel Series 2 fast approaches, there’s another method that could help fans to identify the Collectible Minifigures.

The switch to cardboard boxes instead of plastic blind bags for LEGO 71039 Marvel Series 2 has led to widespread theories and concerns about how to find the minifigures you want and avoid duplicates. Possible methods range from weighing the individual boxes (which is slightly impractical in reality) or simply buying a box in its entirety for some markets.

However, The Brick Fan has another potential means of predicting which minifigure lies inside each box: serial numbers. Next to the ordinary UPC code, there’s also a unique serial number. Some characters have the same first five characters (such as Mr Knight, Beast, and Storm in the example below), but the following serial number is always unique.

After comparing the box he bought with the box he was sent to review, The Brick Fan suggested that each character has its own range of serial numbers that it will stay within, usually a range from a few hundred to a few thousand. Importantly, the numbers don’t seem to interact with each other, although this cannot be confirmed for all runs of 71039 Marvel Series 2.

If the theory runs true, this would mean would simply need to look for a serial number within the range for your desired character. This could all prove unhelpful if, during general release, the numbers get mixed up between the ranges that The Brick Fan suggests, but at the moment this seems to be the most practical way of identifying the minifigures you want from the shelves. Here’s a table that illustrates the possible serial number ranges for 71039 Marvel Series 2, as reported by The Brick Fan.

This is what i got from different shops, cross reference with the codes listed and what you got, seems the number that matters is the one just below the QR, we might manage to figure all of them…

    Hawkeye – 525R3
    Goliath – 427R3
    Echo – 230S3:6000 & 627R3
    She Hulk – 130S3:700-800 & 625R3 & 725s3-005323
    Werewolf – 330S3/227R3 & 227R3
    Storm – 629S3:18000-19000 & 126R3 & 525S3 & 530S3
    Wolverine – 330S3:11000 & 726R3 & 230s3-002689 & 230s3-002741

    Got some codes:

These came out of the same batch:
    Beast: 734S3 – 0070301
    Beast: 135S3 – 015381

    Another batch different store:
    Echo: 530S – 001485

The weight list is an option but not aqurate.
You can very carefully open a tab in the store with a pocket knife without damaging the box. But is not a neat thing against the store.

I’m also in MN and experienced the same. Many had been opened so I just peeked in the boxes to see which ones were there. Still needed Clint and Agatha. Got an extra Mr. Knight.

I’ve purchased one in the UK with the apparently unique Agatha Harkness serial code, and it contained Warewolf By Night. I’m really not convinced this works at all unfortunately.
