Rare LEGO 90th anniversary item appears on the secondary market

Yet another LEGO 90th anniversary promotional item has appeared, with a rare promo hitting a high price on the secondary market.

Although the LEGO Group’s main 90th anniversary celebrations took place on August 10, a couple of additional exclusive items have recently appeared that mark the big event. This has included a special 90 Years of Play Timeline board game given out to employees and a 90th Tote Bag GWP that has been available in some territories such as Malaysia and Australia.

Now a new promotional item has popped up and it’s one that’s going for a high price on the secondary market – if you can find it that is. A recent eBay listing has revealed a limited edition 90 Years of Play Metal Keychain, which seems to be a LEGO Korea employee gift. The item is packaged in a cardboard box with foam insert and the keychain features a 2×2 LEGO brick on one side, plus the LEGO logo and 90 Years of Play embossed on the reverse.

The eBay listing is currently asking for £49.99 for the 90 Years of Play Metal Keychain, a price that might be way too high for most bidders, but the apparent rarity of the item may still prove to be a draw for some collectors.

Two more retro keychains are also due to be available from the VIP Rewards Centre soon, with both featuring spinning metal designs and a classic version of the LEGO logo. There’s no word yet on exactly when the items will appear or how much they’ll cost, but the previous retro LEGO keychain can still be picked up for 950 points.

We can buy this in Belgium in a specific toy store for €10. Because the promotion is ended they’re seller the leftovers. It’s not a rare item at all in my opinion.

I’ve got one too. It was free with a lego purchase over £30 at the Natural History Museum. This was back in June. Not sure if the offer is still on. It also came with a water bottle!

I’m gutted! I was there in July & didn’t see anything about free gifts & saw no-one to ask, so left it 🙁
