The LEGO inclusions in Sonic Superstars aren’t just limited to character skins as there’s a full expansion pack on the way.
The press release summarising the reveals at today’s Sonic Central has officially confirmed that the LEGO Sonic Superstars crossover isn’t limited to Dr. Eggman and Sonic character skins.
The two of these will be available for free with Dr. Eggman via pre-ordering the title. How you’ll acquire the skin for Sonic has yet to be revealed. However, the most exciting announcement from the press release is the clarification that the trailer was teasing a LEGO expansion pack for the upcoming game, separate from Sonic and Dr. Eggman's skins.
“After the Sonic Superstars reveal, we wanted to share more details around the game and the upcoming LEGO themed integration on Sonic Central, “said Ivo Gerscovich, chief business and brand officer at SEGA of America.
“Through our continued partnership with the LEGO Group, Sonic fans will be able to experience Sonic Superstars in brick form and also recreate favourite scenes with the recently announced Dr. Eggman’s Death Egg Robot.”
Also revealed at the event, then fully afterwards, was 76993 Sonic vs. Dr. Eggman’s Death Egg.
“We’re a little over 30 days away from LEGO Sonic hitting shelves, and we’re thrilled to reveal Dr. Eggman’s Death Egg Robot as the fifth entry in our fantastic range of building experiences,” shared Frédéric Roland Andre, Designer at the LEGO Group.
“Sonic Central is the perfect setting to introduce LEGO and Sonic fans to this amazingly villainous new set, and we can’t wait for Sonic fans of all ages to get their hands on the blue blur in LEGO brick form this summer.”
Sonic Superstars is releasing later this year but specific details for the LEGO expansion pack have yet to be revealed, including what will be in it.
