Official Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series synopsis revealed

An official synopsis has been revealed for the upcoming Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi series, hinting at the show’s storyline and characters.

We’re less than two months away from the release of the next live-action Star Wars series on Disney+ and more information continues to trickle out regarding the show. Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi is set to arrive 45 years to the day since Star Wars: A New Hope premiered in US cinemas and anticipation for the prequel era series is rising.

Disney has now released an official synopsis for the show, which can be viewed when searching for the series on the streaming channel. Although only two lines of text in length, the synopsis gives us a hint of what to expect from the show and potential characters that might be encountered:

“During the reign of the Galactic Empire, former Jedi Master Obi-Wan Kenobi embarks on a crucial mission. Kenobi must confront allies turned enemies and face the wrath of the Empire.”

A trailer and cast details have already confirmed the return of Ewan McGregor as Obi-Wan Kenobi and Hayden Christensen as Anakin Skywalker/Darth Vader. Other returning cast members include Joel Edgerton as Owen Lars and Bonnie Piesse as Beru Lars, who are joined by new faces such as Grant Feely as a young Luke Skywalker and Rupert Friend as what appears to be The Grand Inquisitor.

No official LEGO Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi sets have been revealed or confirmed to date. However, rumours suggest a possible BrickHeadz double pack of Obi-Wan Kenobi and Darth Vader may be released in May, with two additional sets (75334 and 75336) arriving in August.

Star Wars: Obi-Wan Kenobi will debut on Disney+ on May 25, with new episodes of the limited series dropping weekly.
