Superman: Legacy keeps original release date following strike
Despite recent delays for Marvel, James Gunn has confirmed that DC’s Superman: Legacy is keeping its original release date following the strike.
Marvel Studios has recently confirmed – following the end of the SAG-AFTRA strike – that four of its upcoming movies would be delayed. Coming in days after this announcement, creative head of DC Studios James Gunn has announced that the upcoming Superman: Legacy movie, part of the 10-year plan that was previously revealed, is keeping its initial release date.
Superman: Legacy is still releasing on July 11, 2025. This is now the same month as Marvel Studios’ Thunderbolts after that film was delayed from December 20, 2024.
It has already been confirmed that Clark Kent will be played by David Corenswet and Lois Lane by Rachel Brosnahan. This is as well as Nathan Fillion, Isabela Merced and Edi Gathegi as Guy Gardner (a Green Lantern), Hawkgirl and Mister Terrific respectively.
Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom is next for DC’s cinematic slate and is one of the last remnants of the older cinematic universe before it is completely rebooted with Superman: Legacy. It releases on December 20. Whether or not the 10-year plan for DC’s movies will inspire any future LEGO sets is unknown at this time.
