LEGO City’s largest set, by far, is launching this summer, begging the question of what other City models top the list.
As rumoured earlier this year, the summer 2023 LEGO City sets include the biggest build in the theme so far. The original LEGO theme has been going for almost two decades and it has seen its fair share of massive models. However, the selection of largest sets is a surprisingly diverse array.
Here’s the biggest LEGO City sets ever designed in order of piece count ascending as of May 2023.
7 – 60200 Capital City
Price: £119.99 / $149.99 / €129.99 Pieces: 1,211 Year: 2018
Released in 2018, 60200 Capital City includes a few unique entries for LEGO City like the museum, hotel and double-decker, open-top bus. It serves to fill out your city with facilities beyond police, firefighters and explorers.
6 – 60198 Cargo Train
Price: £169.99 / $229.99 / €189.99 Pieces: 1,226 Year: 2018
Trains have become a regular release in LEGO City over the years and 60198 Cargo Train tops every other model by piece count. The set includes a full loop of track and electronic pieces that drive up the price compared to other builds.

LEGO City’s nearby jungle has a massive model too with 60162 Jungle Air Drop Helicopter from 2017 featuring everything an explorer needs. Some scenery and two animal figures are included too.

With a big volcano recreation, 60125 Volcano Heavy-Lift Helicopter is one of the largest LEGO City sets ever made with one of the biggest helicopters to boot.

Featuring unique minifigures inspired by the LEGO City Adventures animated series, 60271 Main Square still isn’t the biggest of the central LEGO City sets.

One of only two LEGO City sets to feature a full LEGO store, no matter how meta it is, 60097 City Square was once the largest LEGO City set by piece count.
1 – 60380 City Centre
Price: €209.99 Pieces: 2,010 Year: 2023
Though it has yet to arrive on LEGO.com with all the details, 60380 City Centre is undoubtedly the biggest LEGO City set so far, taking the theme over the 2,000-piece mark. The multi-tiered model looks similar to something from NINJAGO or Monkie Kid with flashy designs and bright colours.
