The biggest LEGO sets of all time – February 2023

The list of the biggest LEGO sets of all time has changed following the reveal of the massive 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell.

The LEGO Group continues to beak their own records, pushing 10299 Real Madrid – Santiago Bernabéu Stadium out of the list of biggest LEGO sets ever made, in terms of piece count. The reveal of 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell earlier this week saw the new model slot neatly into the list with nearly every build on it now available.

While we wait for the launch of the biggest LEGO The Lord of the Rings set so far, here’s a look at the 10 most enormous models ever officially released, by piece count ascending.

10 – LEGO Creator Expert 10189 / 10256 Taj Mahal

Pieces: 5,922 Year: 2008/ 2017 Price: 2008: £199.99 / $299.99 / €299.99 2017: £299.99 / $369.99 / €369.99

First launched in 2008 and then again in 2017, 10189 Taj Mahal and 10256 Taj Mahal is a lot bigger than their LEGO Architecture counterpart – 21056 Taj Mahal – but it still fits in at the bottom of the list with just under 6,000 elements in both the release and rerelease of the model.

9 – LEGO Harry Potter 71043 Hogwarts Castle

Pieces: 6,020 Year: 2018 Price: £409.99 / $469.99 / €469.99

71043 Hogwarts Castle takes the list to just over 6,000 pieces with a small-scale recreation of the school, though rumour has it that another could be coming soon to sit alongside it on shelves.

8 – LEGO Icons 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell

Pieces: 6,167 Year: 2023 Price: £429.99 / $499.99 / €499.99

Beating the previous LEGO The Lord of the Rings model by some distance, 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell features 6,167 pieces and is the first 2023 moel on this list. Including the entire fellowship in one set is no small feat as is capturing the unique architecture of the elven settlement.

7 – LEGO Star Wars 75331 The Razor Crest

Pieces: 6,187 Year: 2022 Price: £519.99 / $599.99 / €599.99

Ahead of the third season of The Mandalorian, and not included in an official blog post of the biggest sets, 75331 The Razor Crest has five minifigures and one complete depiction of the ship – interior and all – with 6,187 bricks just beating 10316 The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell.

6 – LEGO Star Wars 75313 AT-AT

Pieces: 6,785 Year: 2021 Price: £734.99 / $849.99 / €849.99

The second of three LEGO Star Wars sets on this list is 75313 AT-AT, featuring a full interior too with a model of the iconic walker that is as big as a small dog, though it might not be as fast on walks.

5 – LEGO Star Wars 75192 Millennium Falcon

Pieces: 7,541 Year: 2017 Price: £734.99 / $849.99 / €849.99

75192 Millennium Falcon is still the biggest LEGO Star Wars set with over 7,000 pieces, approaching its sixth year on shelves later in 2023.

4 – LEGO Icons 10276 Colosseum

Pieces: 9,036 Year: 2020 Price: £474.99 / $549.99 / €549.99

While it may have once been the biggest build ever, 10276 Colosseum is no longer the bearer of that title with just over 9,000 elements as the current threshold for the top spot may be hard to beat for some time.

3 – LEGO Icons 10294 Titanic

Pieces: 9,090 Year: 2021 Price: £589.99 / $679.99 / €679.99

With the 25th anniversary of the Titanic film being celebrated in 2023, it’s a good time to grab the third-biggest LEGO model ever made as 10294 Titanic has 9,090 pieces – just make sure you have the room to display it.

2 – LEGO Icons 10307 Eiffel Tower

Pieces: 10,001 Year: 2022 Price: £554.99 / $629.99 / €629.99

10307 Eiffel Tower debuted late in 2022 as arguably the biggest set of all time, not taking the number of pieces into account. However, it’s not quite the biggest by that metric though it’s undeniably impressive at 149cm tall.

1 – LEGO Art 31203 World Map

Pieces: 11,695 Year: 2021 Price: £214.99 / $249.99 / €249.99

Ready to hang on a wall and track where you have visited, 31203 World Map is the largest LEGO set by piece count with 11,695 elements. However, with 10307 Eiffel Tower getting close to that with 10,000 elements, beating that threshold may not take too much longer.
