The UK’s newest LEGO Store in Edinburgh is currently looking for staff ahead of its spring 2021 launch.
First announced back in December, the Edinburgh store will be the 18th to open in the UK, and just the second in Scotland. The country’s only other LEGO Store is situated in Glasgow, some 46 miles away from the capital.
You’ll find the store in New Town’s St. James Quarter development, which is part of an ongoing £1 billion investment into the city centre that will see two hotels, 30 restaurants, 85 shops and a cinema open in 2021.
Of course, none of that can open right now, as shops across the UK are currently closed in line with the national lockdown. The LEGO Store’s planned spring opening is therefore similarly contingent on restrictions being lifted before then.
The UK government will announce its roadmap out of the current lockdown on February 22, but a Whitehall source told the Telegraph that non-essential retail may not reopen until April. In that case, we could be looking at a late spring launch for the Edinburgh LEGO Store, but we’ll keep you posted.
