Final trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie ties in with LEGO tease

The final trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie has been released ahead of the film’s debut and it ties in with a recent LEGO Super Mario tease. 

Following the recent release date change, a Nintendo Direct has revealed the final trailer for The Super Mario Bros. Movie with footage of a dungeon, kart racing and a fight sequence being showcased for the first time. 

The fight sequence sees Mario and Donkey Kong using items to power themselves up and fight Bowser’s army, with Donkey Kong using a fire flower for the first time in the history of the franchise. 

Mario and Donkey Kong teaming up is something that will soon be making its way into LEGO Super Mario too as on MAR10 Day 2023, it was revealed that Donkey Kong is coming to the theme in the summer of 2023.

Mario, Luigi or Peach can ride on Donkey Kong’s back and it’s not often that the two characters team up. The movie is the most recent example of their camaraderie and it’s an interesting coincidence that the LEGO Group has managed to tie the future of the theme in with the movie, without designing sets based directly on it. 

While there are no specific The Super Mario Bros. Movie models, the character designs featured in the film are close to the in-game appearances, which are represented in the wide array of LEGO Super Mario sets.
