We’ve had one LEGO X-wing, yes, but what about second (and third) LEGO X-wing?
Good news if you don’t much fancy the LEGO Star Wars SMART Play X-wing: it’s said to be just one of three different X-wings landing on shelves in 2026.
75423 Luke’s Red Five X-wing swoops into stores on March 1 as part of the launch wave of SMART Play sets, and with both the tech and its target audience in mind it’s fair to say that the design is just a little bit compromised. If you’re in the market for a more display-worthy version of the iconic LEGO Star Wars ship, though, the rumour mill says there are two more right around the corner.

Only one of those is likely to be an accurate minifigure-scale version of the ship, though: 75460 X-wing Starfighter, which is reportedly on the way in June alongside another unknown The Mandalorian & Grogu set. Whether this new X-wing is also hooked to the upcoming Star Wars cinematic release is uncertain right now. The other is the currently unnumbered Luke’s X-wing Microfighter, which will presumably be another play-friendly set.
What’s most interesting about the potential minifigure-scale X-wing (and we’re only speculating from here on in, because we have no other details beyond the set name) is that it may finally move away from the constant flow of Red Five X-wings we’ve seen on shelves since… well, 1999. Even 2024’s Rebuild the Galaxy X-wing hewed very closely to the standard red and white colour scheme of previous original trilogy X-wings.

Short of yet another Luke Skywalker cameo in The Mandalorian & Grogu, though, chances are at least better than usual that this new LEGO Star Wars X-wing could give us a brand new livery (and a new pilot to boot). One strong contender from the Mando-verse that immediately comes to mind is Carson Teva’s T-65B X-wing Starfighter (pictured above), which features yellow accents in addition to red.
It’s still not what you’d call a major departure from previous X-wings, but beggars can’t be choosers at this point. And with 75393 TIE Fighter & X-wing Mash-up retiring at the end of 2025, the door is firmly open for a new and accurate minifigure-scale LEGO X-wing to join the portfolio in 2026 – it’s one of those Star Wars staples that’s pretty much always available – so here’s hoping the LEGO Group takes the chance to give us something at least a little different.

If we’re really going big and bold, our vote would be for an X-wing themed to Saw Gerrera’s Partisans from the Rogue One/Andor era. The black and white colour scheme translates perfectly to LEGO – see the custom version above – and would be something genuinely radical for LEGO X-wings.
But with all eyes on The Mandalorian & Grogu this summer, and a rumoured wave of LEGO Star Wars sets that otherwise plays like a greatest hits of original trilogy icons (a Sandcrawler, AT-AT, Imperial Shuttle and so on), it feels like the moment has unfortunately passed for that one. So at this point, we’ll take what we can get – and we at least know the LEGO Group has heard of second X-wing…
Remember to take all rumoured details of unconfirmed LEGO Star Wars (including both these bonus 2026 X-wings) with a grain of salt. 75423 Luke’s Red Five X-wing is available to pre-order at LEGO.com now and will ship from March 1.
