Why should you grab a LEGO BrickLink Series 5 set?

There are just a couple of days left to take part in the fifth series of the LEGO BrickLink Designer Program, and here are a few reasons to take part.

With the recent stock shift in Series 5, it seems likely that all five LEGO BrickLink Designer Program builds will be lasting until the end of crowdfunding, on June 24, 2025, at 12pm Pacific time. This still leaves you with just over two full days to decide which, if any, of the five models to grab while you still can.

The BrickLink Designer Program has become one of the most notable and successful experiments in the LEGO portfolio in recent years, with some sets in previous series quickly running out of stock. For Series 5, the usual 30,000 set limit has been expanded to 50,000 copies in some cases, proving just how popular the program is, with at least three more series currently planned. Many people are already taking part, and there are many good reasons why.

Alongside the fact that the BrickLink Designer Program Series 5 sets qualify for the current double LEGO Insiders points promotion, here are a few reasons to consider picking up a LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 5 set while you still can.

Own a limited-edition piece of LEGO history

The BrickLink Designer Program has already gone down in LEGO history as an incredibly successful experiment that has become a triannual phenomenon. One set from Series 5 is likely to be just as prolific in LEGO history for selling nearly 50,000 copies, according to data gathered from the BrickLink website’s HTML code.

910049 Adventure in Transylvania by SleeplessNight may cost £299.99 / $349.99 / €349.99, but the high price hasn’t discouraged thousands from picking up the stunning model in this crowdfunding phase. Considering that previous LEGO BrickLink Designer Program sets have been limited to 30,000 copies, reaching nearly double that total is monumental.

With only a couple more days to pre-order Adventure in Transylvania, you won’t want to miss out on this opportunity to own a piece of LEGO history, and all of the Series 5 sets are limited-edition, so they will be similarly historic, too.

Efficient and uncommon LEGO theme displays

LEGO display sets based on classic themes are uncommon, but Series 5 of the LEGO BrickLink Designer Program has some efficient options for collectors with many minifigures to display. Alongside Adventure in Transylvania for monsters, adventurers and vampires, The Thieves of Tortuga is perfect for LEGO Pirates and should be good for the upcoming One Piece minifigures, as well.

The other LEGO BrickLink Designer Program Series 5 sets don’t tie into any specific classic theme, but should display relevant minifigures well, and they’re more affordable than the Castle and Pirates creations

You don’t have to go hugely over your budget

Each series of the LEGO BrickLink Designer Program has had some expensive sets, but thankfully, there are always options for those on a budget who want to own a unique slice of LEGO history. Mictur’s Popcorn Wagon is just £49.99 / $59.99 / €57.99, which is far more affordable than the other models in the series.

It won’t take up much space on a shelf, but it fulfils the desire of owning a LEGO BrickLink Designer Program, without having to allocate too much of your monthly LEGO budget, or going too far over it.

Support fellow fans

One of the most important reasons to get involved with the BrickLink Designer Program can be easy to forget in the excitement of the builds and their details. These sets are designed primarily by fans, with some amendments made by official designers to ensure high-quality creations.

All Bricklink Designer Program designers receive a 5% cut of the net sales of their sets, and this has been great news for one enthusiast designing in Series 5. This means that by picking up a BrickLink Designer Program set, you’ll be supporting the fan behind it.

LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.

BrickLink have removed data from the page that allowed us to determine how many sets there were, but I did notice the percentage sold decreased on the Transylvania set recently meaning they likely increased the availability above 50k sets.
