You can no longer buy LEGO CITY Undercover on Nintendo Wii U and 3DS

Nintendo has removed the LEGO CITY Undercover games from its digital Wii U and 3DS stores.

The obsolete gaming systems – both of which have been replaced by the hybrid Nintendo Switch console – are slowly being phased out by Nintendo. Netflix will soon no longer be available on either console, and games are vanishing from the eShop left, right and centre.

The latest casualties of that winding-down process are LEGO CITY Undercover on the Wii U, and handheld spin-off LEGO CITY Undercover: The Chase Begins on Nintendo 3DS. Both games were apparently delisted on December 22, which means you can no longer buy the digital versions. (If you’ve bought them previously, you’ll still be able to download and play them.)

But let’s say you’ve suddenly found yourself with a hankering for gallivanting around virtual LEGO CITY as Chase McCain (because we always want what we can’t have). Well, don’t worry: you’ve got options. The Switch port is still available, for instance – as are the PS4, Xbox One and PC versions.

If you’re only rocking last-generation Nintendo hardware, though, you’ll need to hunt down pre-owned physical copies to get your LEGO CITY Undercover fix.

A fresh batch of physical LEGO CITY sets has just arrived on LEGO.com, and you can currently get double VIP points on the largest one, 60292 Town Center. Another new set has also been revealed today in 60278 Crooks’ Hideout, but there’s no word yet on when that will launch.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
