The minifigure selection in 75969 Hogwarts Astronomy Tower is clearly geared towards the lighter moments of the sixth Potter movie, with Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, Draco Malfoy, Lavender Brown and Professor Slughorn all in the box (so, no Dumbledore). And the 971-piece set is packed with details that reference Sughorn’s Christmas party, from wine glasses and cakes to lanterns and mysterious beverages.

That’s not all you’ll find in the Wizarding World playset, though: just like the rest of the LEGO Harry Potter Hogwarts sets, 75969 Hogwarts Astronomy Tower expands into other areas of the castle, including the Ravenclaw dormitory and a greenhouse. It’s perfect for recreating scenes from The Half-Blood Prince (and other films, if you like), and is also worth another look if the boxy nature of the latest Hogwarts sets doesn’t appeal to you.

You’ll have to act fairly quickly, though, as 75969 Hogwarts Astronomy Tower is due to retire by the end of 2023. That’s a good nine months off yet, but LEGO sets typically retire in the weeks and months leading up to their end-of-production date – and there’s no guarantee we’ll see a better price than this before it leaves shelves for good.
