LEGO Ideas Dungeons & Dragons features work from more than one fan designer
LEGO Ideas 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale includes creative work from not just one but two fan designers.
As a theme, LEGO Ideas has always been about collaborating with fans, with every set inspired by an original concept designed by a member of the LEGO community. In the case of 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale, there are actually two fan designers involved: Lucas Bolt, the mind behind the set itself, and chainsaw yu, the brains behind the cover of the instructions booklet.
Chainsaw yu’s design as picked as part of a separate LEGO Ideas content, with entrants encouraged to be inspired by “worlds, characters, battles or anything else you feel represents 50 years of this game.” The creator of the winning design received five copies of 21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale, as well as getting to see their work on the instructions.
The striking winning design included a dragon (naturally), a warrior, a dwarf, an elf, and many other familiar icons from Dungeons & Dragons. Check out the side-by-side between the original concept and the final instructions below. Virtually no changes appear to have been made between the two, with just slight design changes to the dragon, perhaps to better reflect the buildable dragon from the set.
21348 Dungeons & Dragons: Red Dragon’s Tale will be available to buy for £314.99 / $359.99 / €359.99 exclusively for LEGO Insiders members from April 1 and for everyone else from April 4.
