New Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania trailer shows off Kang and MODOK

Two iconic Marvel villains take centre stage in the latest trailer for Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania, which will kickstart Phase Five of the MCU next month.

The marketing campaign for the next Marvel Cinematic Universe film is about to go into overdrive, as Disney ramps up to the release of the third Ant-Man movie on February 17, 2023. The threequel is the first film in the next phase of the MCU, and stars Paul Rudd as Ant-Man, Evangeline Lilly as Hope van Dyne, and Jonathan Majors as Kang the Conqueror.

Majors reprises his role from the Disney+ series Loki, in which he made a limited appearance to introduce the character to the MCU. That could make the first season of the Thor spin-off show mandatory viewing to fully appreciate Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania, but that kind of interconnected cinematic landscape is par for the course for this franchise by now.

This latest trailer gives us our best look yet at Majors in his full Kang form, all purple and green, along with our first glimpse at the live-action MODOK (or Mechanised Organism Designed Only for Killing), who’s portrayed by Ant-Man alum Corey Stoll. Either or both of these characters could make an appearance in the rumoured LEGO Marvel set based on the film, which is said to come in at €29.99.

Those baddies join Ant-Man, The Wasp and Cassie Lang as potential candidates for Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania minifigures. LEGO sets for Marvel movies typically release at least a month ahead of their source material, so it’s unusual that we’re still yet to see any confirmation of products for the threequel – especially as director Peyton Reed has already said the film will have a ‘profound impact’ on the MCU.

If a LEGO Ant-Man and The Wasp: Quantumania set is in the works, a February 1 release date seems likely, so watch this space. The film will rocket into cinemas on February 17, 2023.

I like to think of myself as a journalist first, LEGO fan second, but we all know that’s not really the case. Journalism does run through my veins, though, like some kind of weird literary blood – the sort that will no doubt one day lead to a stress-induced heart malfunction. It’s like smoking, only worse. Thankfully, I get to write about LEGO until then.
