BIONICLE BrickLink fan designer joins the LEGO Group

The fan designer behind the 910007 BIONICLE Legends BrickLink model has started the year by joining the LEGO Group full-time.

The fan designer behind 910007 BIONICLE Legends, which didn’t manage to become a funded BrickLink Designer Program set in the 2021 invitational, has announced on X that they will no longer be just a fan designer starting this year.

BrickLink Designer Program BIONICLE Legends

After years of custom creations inspired by BIONICLE and NINJAGO especially, Sokoda will be joining the LEGO Group as a LEGO designer in 2025, likely one day bringing an official LEGO set to shelves as they tried to with BIONICLE in 2021.

Given the consistent popularity of BrickLink Designer Program builds – especially in the last couple of years – it’s not surprising to see the LEGO Group looking through the fan designers to find the next generation of their design teams.

It will be interesting to follow Sokoda’s career from this point onwards, though they note that there will be custom creations from them as they devote time towards the new job, which is understandable. LEGO has been a part of my life ever since I was young. It all started when my brother passed down 7657 AT-ST to me. It’s guided me through my early years, through school and eventually through my degree in journalism. I still have all my collection proudly on display, including my many NINJAGO sets, my favourite of all the LEGO Group’s themes. Outside of Brick Fanatics I am an avid gamer and enjoy a good game of Dungeons & Dragons.
